This is a great walk if you want excellent views but are short of time. It gives a taste of the wild moorlands despite being so close to the A57, and after a gentle ascent you are rewarded with oustanding views over Ladybower Reservoir. Paths are generally good, just one steeper section, and navigation shouldn’t be tricky. Definitely a good walk for older kids too.
Distance – XXkm or X miles, and ascent of XX metres or XX feet, with one short steeper section.
Having parked your car in the large lay-by just off the A57, the walk starts by taking you to Cutthroat Bridge where you leave the road. The path rises steadily over the moor, and brings you up to a junction of footpaths. There are now brilliant view for the next mile as you head south high above Ladybower Reservoir. The path drops steeply down to a track that takes you to the Ladybower Inn, before a gentle climb along a rocky path back to Cutthroat and your car.
